In the wasteland of the post-modern world virtue, tradition and natural hirearchial structures have been fragmented into small pockets of society. While the old world’s framework was dismembered and ridiculed into the fringe of the political dialogue, a new and much more corrupted string of philosophical ideals have been formulated. I say these ideals are corrupted because for the most part these ideals in principle are not problematic when applied in proper context. But when thrust into the post-modern context and conceived into the aberrant mind of the liberal it forms a falsified version of itself. This twisted version of such concepts, pervasively moves through the populace and becomes engrained into the mainstream.
One of the most perverted concepts that is near worshiped today is that of “equality”. So embedded into the mind of the west that even so called “conservatives” show support for equalitarian ideals. Although, one could argue that this is in defense of the rise of feminism, it is in reality a natural ideological product of the liberal society. Now you may be asking yourself, what is wrong with the idea that everyone is equal and that we should all be on the same level? A quite simple answer, equality is not real, at least not in the conceptualization of the modern world. Now there is equality in the Christian sense, that being the equality that we are all called to seek salvation, but even then we don’t always receive equal levels of grace. However, when it comes to the equality of intellectual capacity or that of aptitude toward a particular skill, this is where it falls apart. This is very evident in our social world. We claim to support the liberty of man to pursue his own fate and forge his own path, but if you have noticed when one raises above another to greatness, he is slandered and pulled down by those below. All in the name of equality. “How dare you be greater.” Erik von Kuehnelt-Leddihn, in his book Liberty or Equality puts it best,
The driving motor of the equalitarian and identitarian trends is envy, jealousy and fear.
These trends are self evident in the equalitarian mind. They fear being of lower status, they envy those above them and are jealous of their abilities. It is a fundamental problem that plagues modern minds. In the mind of the old world, one accepted his place in life and didn’t claw at the success of others out of spite. Furthermore one must only look at the principles of nature to see the dichotomy of egalitarianism and liberty, or ones ability to excel to their capacity. Nature in itself is not equal. For example if you want a flat sprawling land you must destroy the mountains and fill in the valleys. Equality requires continual force to create itself and this in itself is opposed to freedom. Furthermore, who defines what is equal? Who draws the line? We all know who, because they dominate the dialogue, the left, of for those of you familiar with the NRx movement, the Cathedral.
Equality, understood in the modern comprehension is another false formulation and perversion of the proper definition and application.
